The make up style during the 80's seemed normal  and trendy but this look is entirely different from the make up which women wear nowadays. However, many people  fondly look back at the 80s era - from 80s theme parties to in demand retro costumes.

The 80's Look
If you are just a beginner, it won't be difficult to create 80's make up style. All you need is a bright colored matching dress or a skirt suit with matching huge shoulder pads, acid wash jeans, or big shirts which will look perfect with tight skirt or tights. You can also add an attention-grabbing pastel plastic jewelry, bangle or metallic belts to make your look more spicy.

The hair styles of the 80's involve a lot of hairspray, mousse and gels (lots of it). Try to achieve big hair, feathered and strangely colored with neon streaks, and faux hawk. Choose a slicked bob for shorties or a high pony tail on the side of your head.

It should be mentioned that in the 80s women's make up was too heavy, literally it involved painting their faces.

The trend of this style is bold eyes and accentuated cheek bones. Give the preference to dark and dramatic eye make up, thick layers of eyeliner and bold shades of eyeshadow in hues of green, blue and purple.

In the 80's women liked to apply a lipstick that popped, mostly in bright tomato red shades. Make up during that period wouldn't be finished without the mica  - the metallic powder which women applied on their eyelids (and other parts of the body) to add a fabulous shimmer.

How to apply make up to achieve an 80's look?
1. You should begin with applying a liquid foundation to create a smooth complexion. Any blemishes or dark spots should be concealed in advance.

2. Using a gold black eyeliner you should line your top and bottom lids and also the skin under the eyes.  Put a lot!

3. Then curl your eyelashes and apply mascara.

4. Apply a lot of bright green, blue or purple eyeshadow onto your entire eyelid- from the brow line up to the lid line. To make the eye make up more interesting use also a blod secondary colour.

5. Take a bright blush and apply a few strokes along your cheekbones. Make it look heavy.

6. Use a bright colored lipstick to finish off the look.

You can also choose the 80's style of Madonna or Cyndi Lauper that are  great examples of the look of this era. Try to copy the colors they used. The 80's make up is surely one of the most interesting trends ever!
