Powders: it is considered that the original full coverage face – powders gave way to transparent modern powders, which are able to control shine, as well as to provide oil – blotting. As a rule powders are applied after some other type of foundation, in order to provide a matt finish.
Cake or compact powders are more heavily formulated forms, because there is some amount of foundation contained in them. It should also be noted, that they are not the best choice for the initial powdering over foundation, because they may possibly rub the foundation off, which will cause an unattractive color build – up. Because of their ability to reinforce the coverage, powders are applied for touching up during the day.
Choice of a Foundation There are two aspects, which should be considered while chooing the foundation: The form of the foundation; The color of the foundation.
There are forms of foundation, which are more suited to certain skin types that others. age and general skin condition are also the factors, which may influence the choice of the foundation.
Choice, based on the skin type Foundation, which is based on oil, is considered to be the best decision for dry skin, because it provides the skin with additional moisture. As for the oil – free foundation, based on water (such as cake or stick forms), it would be good to be applied on the oily skin. As for the normal skin, any possible form of foundation would be suitable for it. It should also be noted, that liquid foundations and emulsions can be applied on any type of skin.
Choice, based on age and general skin condition For a young girl with fine skin the best decision would be some thin foundation (light sheer liquids). As for the skin with uneven color and tone, with blemishes, and / or other problems, some heavy foundation, which is able to cover hide the poor condition of the skin, such as cream or stick would be good to apply. As for the older skin, it is possible to apply two coats of some light liquid foundation, because a heavier type of foundation may only emphasize the lines and skin creases.
Choice, based on color It is extremely important that the foundation would match the natural skin tone as much as possible. This color matching should better be done in day – light, and not in artificial light. Beige, brownish gold or ochre colors of foundation can be applied on the fair skin, while pinkish beige, peach or pinkish ochre would be good for somewhat darker skin. In case if someone has more than one color tone in the face, then the foundation should be matched to the middle tone. Besides, it should also be noted, that mixing two colors: one – which matches the natural skin color, and the other, which complements the natural skin color, would provide a very good effect.
