The product which is healthy for your skin mustn't include harmful toxins, potential carcinogens, dioxins, contaminants or irritants that are mostly encountered in inexpensive products.
Skin care products for treating the teenagers' skin should be gentle and protect it from the negative effects of the environmental pollution and also have the ability to treat minor blemishes.
You need to study the ingredients in your cosmetics carefully. The make up products may contain such ingredients as:
1. Di-ethanol-amine DEA and Tri ethanol amine TEA which are also called wetting agents. They can be also found in other compounds like cocamide DEA or in sodium lauryl sulphate TEA. However it should be mentioned that neither DEA nor TEA by themselves are carcinogens. But if they are present in make up products which also include nitrites they can combine with them and as a result produce nitrosamies which are carcinogens.
2. Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) is, among other things, an engine de-greaser. The Journal of the American College of Toxicology states that SLS is absorbed easily into your skin and it still remains and builds up in the heart, liver, lungs and brain, even if you wash it right off after using it! SLS is present in most shampoos.
3. Alpha hydroxy acids are necesary for preventing wrinkles however they may also cause long-term damage to your skin.
4. Talc which is the component of most pressed powders and foundations, is a mineral which is made by the mining of talc rocks and then processed by crushing, drying and milling. During the processing the number of trace minerals are eliminated from the talc but minute fibres which are very similar to asbestos are not separated. It has been used for more than 30 years and it is known that it has the ability to enter the body even if it is used topically. It has been noticed that it may also lead to the lung disorders.
