But if you do use some type of face decoration, try to make it subtle, original, and above all stylish, not crude, and jokeworthy.

Gothic Lipstick
Try to go for an origional shade of lipstick, and avoid blacks and dark blues unless you really know what you’re doing. Deep reds / burgundy / browns can look great if done properly. Use a lip brush for a more precise and contrasting effect.

Generally the more expensive Goth lipstick will stay on for longer, smudge less, be more vibrant and look better all round. Thus you should be going for one of two types of look with lipstick, either subtle, or a high contrast.

Gothic Hair dye
There are numerous gothic hair dyes out there, and the ways in which you use them may vary a lot depending on your own hair color.

If your hair is naturally very dark, then you may need to lighten / bleach it slightly in order for lighter colors such as reds / greens / blues to show through.

If you hair is light and you want it to be black, think carefully about if this is actually what you want, as black hair dye is notoriously difficult to get rid of once applied.

Again, in using any Goth hair dye general subtly is the order of the day most of the time, you may want a red tint to your hair, but not be too keen on the look if you bleached it first.
Consider if you do mess up with a very dark dye, if you try to bleach it out you will often be left with a green tint to it.
